Heh, heh! Just as I promised, and after 3,520 miles, we have tasted many delicious and outstanding vegan meals...I know, I did promise you daily updates and I did not make all of them, with two doggies and a husband in tow it was a challenge..and I do apologize...let's get started!
Hard Rock Cafe Lake Tahoe...They will make a vegan burger, you have to ask. And don't forget the grilled veggies!
Sprouts, South Lake Tahoe. Hippy Hipster. We ordered the Crispy Veggie Bagelwich and a Tostada. They sub Daiya and have groovy vegan soups and desserts.
Since we took the pups with us, most meals were either had at the park, in the car, or a hotel room. Such it was.
Subway. Yes. If you pick the right ingredients, they can make a vegan sammie. The cheese you see is almond cheddar we brought along. Oh yes, we feasted on crackers and cheese with local fresh picked apples and peaches for a couple of lunches as well ;)
Once in Portland I came to the harsh realization that we would not be visiting Blossoming Lotus, Bye and Bye, Portabello, or Departure. Just not in the stars with the dogs along. No worries! We started our Portland Food Fest with Hungry Tiger Two. Anyone for Carbo loading-- check out the corn dogs! And Kale bowls!
Voodoo Donuts! Breakfast never tasted so good - who cares about long lines anyway? Bring on the pink!
If you crave Mexican, this is the place - they have three locations to serve you. Just say Vegan! The Tofu Tacos were grilled to perfection- smoky and the hot sauces varied according to spiciness -- I love it hot! Queasdillas with Daiya and Fajitas---hmmm.
Sizzle! A day without pizza is...well, we won't talk about it. Two locations to serve you. Try the pepperoni!
Vegan Mall in the Pearl District...We finally have our own, albeit, small, but this block rocks!
We checked out Black and White for sammies, then shopped at Herbivore and Food Fight.
Quite the happening place.
Don't forget the Food Truck Stop in Old Town either. There are vegan trucks!
Ahhhh, Seattle. My heartbeat<3 We love Cyber Dogs! How about a Tuna Melt?
Maybe a Chicago Dog, or a Spudnik?
Sushi Lover in Reno, Nevada is an off the main track attraction! Over 40 vegan sushi rolls! We tried the Tempora Jalapeno, Shiitake Avo, and the Inari Daikon... of course with seeweed salad. These rolls are fat! Best meal hands down guys! If you are within 300 miles, you got to go! Make it a weekend!
The Hash a Go Go in Harrah's Reno was a surprise. They made a delicious Portabella Sammie that you can watch them prepare. That , with the Vegan Basil Pesto Home Fries were a hit!
We had an outstanding lunch at the Tandoor Halah in Las Vegas. They offer a buffet or order off the menu. All foods are labeled as vegan or not. I felt like I died and went to Tikka Heaven...curries, pakoras, naan, and more.
Yes, we did eat at other venues - I will admit to a buffet or two- we always regret those...never a whole lot to offer, and we stopped at Whole Foods a couple of times as well.
Bottom line, this world is soooo much easier to navigate as vegans than it was in '94 when we went vegan for good.
God bless us all.
Be Vegan. Enjoy your life and be compassionate and true to yourself.
And if you hit the road, check out some of these eateries. Yum.
Until next year.
Long Live Vegan Mofo!
