Emoji or picture characters came along at the dawn of the digital age, circa late 1990s in Japan. I remember hearing about them when I first started using acronyms such as lol and wtf. In the US we were all texting <3 and so forth but by 2007 Apple brought Japan's emojis to the US- by 2011 the world was using them and to date there are over 1800 emojis floating across our electromagnetic spectrum. We use them everyday, on the hour. Being the foodie that I am, I thing that my most used and enjoyed emoji has to be:
Yummy! Let's face it, don't you use this at least once a day? Looking at this guy, all I can think about is making Buddha Bowls. I mean, just look at that round face, the happiness, the joy! Nice round tummy, nice happy yummy face. Mr. Yummy face emoji always inspires me to make a bowl - it can to breakfast, lunch or dinner...Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall. Buddha Bowls are comforting and easy to make and assemble - all that you need are various greens, raw or roasted veggies, beans and a healthy grain like quinoa or brown rice. Include toppings like nuts, seeds and dressings for added texture and flavor, you can't go wrong.
Next time you have that yin for something yummy, put on that Mr. Yumminess Emoji, open your frig and get creative!
I don't think I've ever used emoji, I just can't bring myself to do it! I'm a traditionalist! I do love your interpretation of this prompt though, and it looks like you've made some delicious Buddha bowls.
