Let's just cut to the chase today. It is Labor Day weekend and we all have plenty to do. Today the prompt is to be inspired by a leader.
My boss and the CEO of the company (my day job the last 16 plus years), a veterinary corporation, is a multifaceted individual. Not only has he built three veterinary practices from the ground up, he manages a 501 c3, has a consulting firm, and owns multiple properties. He has other talents as well...he loves sports.
When I first started working for him he coached baseball with his two growing sons and the community. Somewhere down the line he decided that it would be blast to start a company softball team. Everyone was part of the team. We all had baseball caps and would practice after work and have games on Saturday afternoons. We enjoyed cokes and hot dogs after the game..it was all about team building and we grew closer because of it. We became stronger, more capable. We had fun.
Then one day someone missed the ball and an employee got hurt...he went out injured and couldn't work for a week or two. That really hurt the team. We count on everyone to do their part. So, sadly, the team disbanded and now we go on team building exercises instead...out to dinner, to amusement parks, that sort of thing.
We all still remember those hot dogs though, and it is in my CEO's honor (the "Eagle") that I treat you all with one today, a seitan version--juicy, delicious, and loaded with peppers and tomatoes...Enjoy! Those go great with Labor Day and Baseball!
