Summertime. Around here it starts heating up late July to October. The Pacific is at it warmest in late August and the swimming is fabulous. Just watch out for the sharks. Really.
When I think of summer I think of the 4th of July and Labor Day...celebrations and picnics. Lazy days laying in the sun soaked sand, cool sea water at my feet. And a paper cup of sangria in my hand.
Such an easy way to use stone fruit and citrus. And any leftover red wine in your pantry.
Just cut up fruit you have on hand, add a little brandy or rum if you like and a bottle of your fav red wine. Let the flavors meld together then have a party! Try this recipe:
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup blackberries
1/2 cup fresh currants
Distilled water
Two 750-ml bottles vegan rosé
8 ounces light rum
4 ounces Campari
2 ounces fresh lemon juice
Guaranteed to cool you down!
Remember to drink responsibly!
